C. History
It is possible that this Pollux’s manuscript was copied in Venice; the watermarks date it to the end of the 15th century or to the beginning of the 16th. It belonged to the Venetian patrizio Sebastiano Erizzo (1525–1585, on his life see DBI 43.198–204), a scholar of Latin and Greek. Not much is known about this manuscript, except that it was purchased for the price of 30 florins, along with several other manuscripts belonged to Erizzo (see Hunger 1961, 453) for the Hofbibliothek in Wien in 1672, about a century after Erizzo’s death. The text of the Onomasticon in Wn descends from the one in Vaticanus graecus 2226Vat. gr. 2226 (G) and also shares some errors with Bruxellensis 11350Brux. 11350 (Br).
