B. Content
1 (1–123v) Pollux, Onomasticon. No title, but some space left blank. Incipit: ὦ παῖ πατρὸς ἀγαθοῦ (1.1). Explicit: κόρημα, κιβωτόν, λύχνον (10.192). Contains books 1 (ff. 1r‒21r), 2 (ff. 21r‒37r), 3 (ff. 37r‒44v), 4 (ff. 44v‒56r), 5 (ff. 56r‒62v), 6 (ff. 62v‒75r), 7 (75r‒84v), 8 (84v‒98v), 9 (ff. 98v‒108v), and 10 (108v‒123v).
C. History
Omont (1888, 18) and Bethe (1900–1937 vol. 1, X) dated the manuscript to the 13th century, possibly to the end of that century. Nonetheless, it was more likely written in the first half of the 14th century, since the hand of the copyist is somewhat similar to that of Georgius GalesiotesGeorgius Galesiotes (RGK I 57 = II 77 = III 97), who was active until the middle of the 14th century; cf. the hands of Marc. gr. Z 490Marc. gr. Z 490 and Marc. gr. X, 3Marc. gr. X, 3. Little is known about the history of this very good manuscript of the d family, since it has not been studied in recent years. The lack of notes makes it difficult to formulate hypotheses about its origin or movements. It is probable that B was brought to Italy, since it may have been used as an antigraphon by Ambrosianus M 94 sup.Ambr. M 94 sup. (Am), with which it shares some errors or variant readings:
2.11 τῶν : τὴν B Am || 5.10 ῥινηλατεῖν : ἰχνηλατεῖν B et bA, ἰχνηλατεῖν καὶ ῥινηλατεῖν Am || 5.21 πλατύνεται : πλατύνονται B Am || 5.31 τὸ post στενὸν om. B Am || 10.11 ἢ om. B Am || 10.23 ἑκάτερον om. B Am || 10.28 δὲ post ἐπεὶ om. B Am
Since Am was likely copied in northern Italy in the middle of 15th century in northern Italy, if it indeed used B, it is possible that the latter was in Italy at that time.
